in high school, we are driven to get good grades and do our best to get into college. why do we do that? then in college we strive to do good to get a good job and career. why do we still strive for perfection? when does it end!?!

I dont strive for anything except good morales and the ability to help change somebodies life for the best. I want good grades but because I want the knowledge. I want a good job so I can support a family. I don't strive for anything other than something that I can give back, I dont search for a selfish desire.

People need to strive for something. Without achievement, many of us would lose self-esteem. Achievement is a good thing.

In order to satisfy our ego in terms of self-pride..... we want to feel superior to others so we compete.... we want to be even better and better compared to our own self with every passage of time, so we strive to excel. Like the poor want to hide their poverty and the rich their wealth, our ego wants to forget the fact as to how 'small' we are compared to the vast and varied universe where we live.

Mankind has to be in control. It's our attempt to control the one thing we can't... our lives. The sooner we learn life should be a party, the happier we'll all be. Turn it up a little. Pass the dip.

because it makes us feel good and when we have made the effort we look for a reward, which makes us, and others, proud of ourselves. confidence is the key to success, if we just gave up, what would be the point of living?

Look at Mother Teresa and Gandhi, for instance.
