I have the part of the herald (fine by me) but what can you tell me about him? his mannerisms and characteristics.
what can you tell me about the ensemble songs? any tips etc?

I cant remember the Herald having a particular role in the movie.
Unless your director has strong ideas on the role do like angelica says and use your own imagination, but don't put in a limp, or keep repeating the last words of the leads (! see 'the art of coarse acting')
Oh and watch out for Arthur, when Burton was playing the role the cast would sing 'I wonder WHO the King is doing tonight...'

You can give him a life all his own. There are no set characteristics for his character. You can make him whatever you want. Just follow the directions of your director and you'll be fine. If you copy someone else, then the part is not really your own.

I saw the plays with Richard Burton, then Richard Harris but if I were you, I would 'cheat' & rent the videos . . .
Then you can vary the performance if you feel it was weak . . .
