You're asking about a civilization that was building pyramids 4,500 years ago, and we still don't know how they did it! It would be impossible to give you a short answer about Egypt! They were ruled by a pharoah, whom they saw as one of a pantheon of gods and goddesses--he was able to intercede on their behalf. They believed in an afterlife which was an idealized version of life in Egypt, because they liked where they lived. They believed they had to earn the right to get there, though--they had to go through several tests before the gods to prove their worth, including the weighing of the heart ceremony, where their heart was weighed against a feather to show that they were pure. If it weighed more than the feather, it was thrown to a monster. They also believed they could not pass into the other world if their bodies were not preserved and their memories were not kept alive. That's why there were mummies and the paintings inside the tombs. Also, they buried items with the dead that they would need in the afterlife. That's why you see items like chairs, food, etc. in the tombs. The small human figures were supposed to represent slaves, which could be used to perform any work they might be called on to perform in the afterlife. There are all sorts of sites on the web about Egypt. HistoryChannel.com has all kinds of details, and you can see their architecture and other items on eternalegypt.com

It is a country in north Africa? Honestly, you might want to narrow this question down just a little bit. It is difficult to summarize 5000+ years of continuous history into a few paragraphs...
