I'm just starting to learn how to knit, and I have a book called "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Knitting and Crocheting". Don't get this book! It's so confusing. The pictures aren't any good. The only way I was able to figure out what to do was to look at video online. The site that I thought was very good is:

http://www.knittinghelp.com/

Some sites use Real Player for their video, and I won't use that, but knittinghelp.com uses Windows Media Player.

The videos help SO MUCH more than just a picture and a description, I think.

Good luck! :)

Here are a couple of web sites to start you off. The second one has instruction for left or right handed people but the graffics are fuzzy. good luck. Knitting is a great hobbie.

i have found that having a book in front of u with pictures is easier than constantly rewinding videos. go to ur craft store and get any book that says knitting made easy and has pics inside
good luck

This web site is very helpful because it has videos--it's just like watching someone sitting with you. I find it easier than learning from photos & text because you can see the motion of the needles and how the yarn is wrapped.
