How can my friend get a grant to fix up her bar/local pub business?

It is very old, and it is in a really Kool historic building. That's about it.

It hasn't been redone in years. She doesn't even turn the lights on, she can't afford the electricity.

Her father originally owned it, he died and she ran it for years, but she is losing customer's and needs real help very fast, also for her costs of living, or she will have to move.

It's an emergency!

Look for historic committees. Local, county and/or state. They may help her, but it will take a L O N G time. Not for an emercency type situation.

But, more likely, the local city or somebody knows the situation and is waiting for the lights to go out permanantly.

I would HIGHLY suggest finding a silent partner that can supply funds for a remodel that will attract an entirely different clientel. A local bank may be willing to help as well, but you better have complete business plan ready, and a good one at that.

Of course, the building will be used as collateral, so you better be on the ball and have a good plan!

Depending on where you live depends on what type of small business loans she might be eligible for. Have her check at her local city hall into what she can do to save the business.
Good Luck
