It really doesn't matter to me, but if I had to choose I would pick "mankind". Everyone understands what it means, it is just common usage. I don't agree that there is a need to change every term that has been in use for sometimes hundreds of years just because it might be considered sexist now. We can be careful with new terminology, but changing old ones becomes rather burdensome. I am a woman.

I'm a woman. I prefer mankind, simply because I can't keep up with the mind-numbing political correctness fad. Relabeling words to make them gender-neutral has become an obsession with some people. Mankind means all humans. It has always meant all humans. The default gender in the English language is male. Why change a word when the meaning is clear?

Mankind and humankind are inclusive of both genders. To call a woman a man is insulting. They tend to confuse them with transgendered persons, placing natural born females in harm's way. To call a female a man and vice versa, is sexual harassment and slander. Political correctness needs to be put it check.

Lets not be too gender conscious on the terminology - lets focus on what the meaning of the word says.
'Man' was used to represent the whole some of the society.
For example : it is common to say a tiger as 'man eater' - does it mean that it will select only men to attack and does not attack women !
Lets enjoy the meaning and lets pay attention on any words which are being formed from now
I am a man

Mankind. It's grammatically correct. People who insist on "humankind" are just ignorant.

Both words contain 'man' in them! So, from a feminist point of view, neither word can be too pleasing. However, their options are not too enticing; womkind and huwomity!
The previous comments are good; let's stick with what we've got and not cave in to people who are out to change meanings. I'm female.
