Note of caution, CD recorders aren't that good at analogue recording over a long period of time in my experience ie. more than 30 mins or so. Also I am sure you need specific (and expensive) audio CDROMs, normal (cheap) ones won't do it.

DVD recorders are actually much more stable as they are built specifically for analogue and digital recording.

You know you can easily record your tapes using your PC.

Yes it can, just plug the tape player direct into the cd recorder instead of the amplifier and it will pick up the signal. It does depned on what type of cd recorder you have but I have done it no probs with a few types. The cd recorder should have an audion input on the back.
