Well put ice on it. Stay off it. You really should get an xray and see what you did to it.

They can't really do much for a broken toe. They may put a cast on your whole foot to keep you from walking on it but I don't think you can put a cast on a toe.

My friend did something similar recently and it's really painful. Get it xrayed to make sure you didn't really do major damage that might require surgery. Better they fix it now than after it's healed improperly if that's the case. Maybe you just jammed it really badly though and will just need to stay off it.

Feel better soon kiddo!

Dad's....I know what you mean my husband does the same thing with my son's hockey bag...sheesh...the middle of the living room is a great place to leave it no???

Ice and elevation. May be broken or a severe bruise (contusion). If the toe is broken, a doctor cannot necessarily splint them (unless there is a new way to do this). The ice will help the swelling and help to numb the pain while elevating the foot will prevent too much blood to go to that area and cause the 'throbbing' sensation you sometimes feel.

My roommate broke her toe doing almost the same as you. The doctor confirmed it was broken and could do nothing but tape it to the other toes. But he did suggest that she go to a local medical supply store and buy a special shoe (sandal?) that helped keep the toe from getting hit again and prevented her from putting pressure on it.

Put ice on your toe.
But if it continues to bother you and you really believe your toe is broken, see a doctor or emergency room. If it is they can't do much more than bandage it and give you a special shoe to wear to take off the pressure on the toe etc.

well if you can wiggle your toe its not broken if you can't wiggle it then it probably is. if you go the hospital they'll tape you your big toe together with another toe,and they tell you to ice it. so save yourself a trip and do it your self.
