I use a mixture of 1 part white vinegar to 4 parts water. I use a sponge to apply the mixture to the window. I crumple up old newspaper and use it to wipe the window dry. Works well and it is cheap. (I have a lot of windows I use a 1 gallon bottle of vinegar in 4 gallons of water in a 5 gallon bucket. >Buy clean spray bottles.< I then make a couple of spray bottles to use in the house or in the car. Do not mix vinegar in a bottle with any other substance!!!)

people have all sorts of fancy recipes, newspapers, windex, vinegar etc., I washed windows professionally as parttime business. dishsoap and hot water in a bucket, fill bucket first then add soap and stir(to avoid suds) wash with sponge preferably and squeegee dry, cheap sueegee's work but if u go to janitor supply pro-squeegees are under $20 and will last u the rest off your life for domestic use, if u smoke indoors, add drop of amonia to water. save the newspaper and vinegar for fish and chips!

I use vinegar and a good lint-free cleaning cloth, since we don't get a newspaper here.
