I think that FDR was greatest and most influential for many reasons. First, he was President during a war, and his leadership and the way he worked with other world leaders helped us achieve victory.
Second, he was President for such a long time (16 years - 4 terms), that he was able to make huge changes in the size of government and how it was structured. The changes he made, the departments he started, are still functioning to this day and influencing how we live.
Also, being in a wheelchair, he had to overcome physical disability to achieve what he did. He was clearly brilliant, and he was a man of honor. He is a great role model.
That is just my own personal opinion.

George Washington. He defined the position, was the father of our country and a great military man. He was more loved by the people than any president. He never told a lie. He had wooden teeth but still passed muster when the CNN cameras did close ups. He never cheated on Martha nor did he ever take blow jobs from interns. He never dodged the draft, he never stuttered in his press conferences, he always led by example and reached across the aisle to slap idiots in congress who wouldn't agree with him. He didn't get to live in the white house so he was also ripped off. He didn't have a presidential jet so he got ripped off there too.

This is a toss-up I think between Lincoln and FDR. Lincoln continued to fight an unpopular Civil War and prevented this nation from falling apart. FDR helped this country through a time of economic despair and through the worst war in human history. Both were great leaders and visionaries.

Abraham Lincoln, the most honest president we ever had. He had a very daunting task to bring this nation back together from the Civil War. I wouldn't have wanted to be in his shoes.

Roosevelt that pulled us out of the depression in the 30's. He pulled LOTS of programs together to present to the Congress. WPA, CCC, all that. It made a big difference in the future of the country and the future of social programs in general.
