No it wasn't an issue for me I quit drinking when i got preganant and never had another drink after that. My friends all slowed down themselves and don't really drink at all anymore. So it wasn't that bad for me. But I can see how someone might get annoyed.

It is quite boring, but I felt very smug recently waking up the day after a huge christmas party without a hangover. It almost made me think I could stay off the booze forever...almost!
I love the way people get so judgemental at questions like this - just because you are asking this does not mean that you are saying you wish you'd never got pregnant or you want to drink during your pregnancy! Why do some people always interpret questions in the most negative way possible?
Why don't people just read and answer the question rather than making judgements on your whole life and motivation at the same time??

Yeah it is annoying, but there is always a substitute i.e when you are at the bar ask i the bar person can make you a special cocktail with no booze in it, i have done this and had some lush friut juice cocktails, you can exsperiemnt with them just as much as you can boozy cocktails.
Next time you are out just be pleased that you can remember your own name Lol. And think off the little baby you are carrying getting drunk is nothing in comparison to carry a baby and then seeing it happy and healthy once it is born.
Good Luck! x x

i missed wine and beer soooooooooo much when i was pregnant. it wasn't too bad, though, b/c since i wasn't drinking my husband didn't really drink unless we were around a bunch of people and then he might have 1 or 2. so, really it helped b/c he was staying sober with me. plus, if everyone was getting sloshed, then we would usually go home and have our own little party!
try to have a non-drinking buddy or just find something else fun to do when your friends are gettting tanked! or you could just get in the mindset that you are going to have fun with your girlies no matter what!!
unfortunately, the lesson that's hardest to learn is that once you become a mom, then things change. you might find yourself gravitating toward new friends with kids and people who are a little more responsible when it comes to having fun.
plus, get ready b/c even after the baby comes you probably won't be getting too drunk b/c there will always be that voice that says "what if my baby needs me...i can't get trashed..."
welcome to the wonderful world of mommyhood!! it's realy wonderful and you'll be so willing to trade in that free-single life for you baby. don't get me wrong..it's normal to miss it every now and then, but then you look at that sweet little face and those feelings melt away!
take care:)

Sometimes but I feel really smug when they all have hangovers in the morning!! Why dont you try some of the posh soft drinks in a wine glass e.g Ame, Schloer and Eisberg (alc free wine). They all look quite convincing and you can still hold onto a wine glass - I did this at Xmas and I didnt feel left out at all.
Good luck with the pregnancy x

Yes! completley know what you mean. Especially over Christmas and New Year! What I do though is buy a really nice non alcoholic soft drink, something red or white and poor it in a nice wine glass. My mother in law taught me this and it works to some degree you dont feel so left out.

yeah i did. I was pregnant six years ago during the holidays and I was young and when newyears came and everyone was drinking i was pissed. then this time i was pregnant over the summer which i found to be even worse because my friends and family party more when on vacationsand fourth of july sucked. My husband and i planned this baby though so it was definately well worth it and in the end when your done having the baby and you get a sitter for the first time to go drink it is great. and for me this newyears i went to my sisters house party where everyone had to bring their own drinks. well i didnt plan on drinking because i hadnt in so long so i didnt bring my own alcohol. anyway everyone was forcing their drinks on me because i was the girl who just had the baby and hadnt drank in forever. i thinkk they found it amusing to watch me get drunk. i had a blast and felt a little spoiled at that point. its all well worth it in the end.
