There are 11 players in a field hockey team with no definitive formation as to where people play, depends on the players abilities and the coaches preference on style of play. You don't have to have a goalkeeper either now.

11 including the Goal-keeper per side. Game of two halves, did you know each half in the game of Hockey last`s 30 mins if you are a woman, and 35 mins if you are a man.
