how collectives were organized n run? were the individuals involved voluntary members or were they forced to work on the farms becuz of the political makeup of the country? were collectives successful? do they still exist 2day???

Yes, they still exist.

Nominally they were voluntary, but in late 20s peasants were coerced to join them and until 50s people couldn't leave them even if they wanted to move to another place.

Nominally the land of collective farms belonged to its members, unlike on soviet farms - совхозы - were it belonged to the state, and the chairman of a collective farm formally was elected by all the members and not appointed, but practically there was not much difference.

Unlike Israeli kibbutz, collective farms are a disaster story of Soviet economy.

It is a farm where people work the fields, are fed and housed and all the crops are sent to the state to be sold. If I'm incorrect please let me know. But that was my understanding.

i think it was stalin who made the move (sorry not sure which leader) for them to siberia tried to grow cotton with irrigations from the rivers that flow the aral sea. -caused 80% loss of water in the sea. -pesticides enter the sea. - water evapeated with pesticides left on ground -Disease/pollution happens
