the cold air in my car's A/C is not working. I got an estimate for repair and it was 1200.00. Can I put a portable a/c in the backseat instead?

portable air conditioners must get rid of the heat somewhere if it is not outside the car it will create more heat inside the car. however you can direct the cool breeze toward you. i would suggest finding other estimates. or find a person that can fix it without the overhead of a shop. many techs are more than willing to do side work, saves you money and makes the tech more money. the only problem is with the warranty if it doesnt work who will pay to fix it right? with ac work there can be as much as 85% profit from the repair. with more info such as vehicle year and what they said was wrong with it it would be easier to guide you in a good direction.

Sure, but you're gonna have to buy a long extension cord! lol

There are some "cooling systems" sold on the web, but these are not a real solution, and don't work at all if it is very warm. They also don't pull moisture out of the air like your A/C will.

Drive it and sweat until you can save the money to have it fixed. Anything else will be a waste of money. Get another estimate at a different shop. Check the yellow pages for one that specializes in A/C. If your quote is from the dealer, you could possibly save 50% somewhere else.

one ingredient to assessment is the electrical powered floor. If the blower motor isn't grounded, it won't paintings. it must be grounded in the process the plug linked to the motor. examine the wires linked to the blower motor. Wiggle them and notice if there's a foul connection on certainly one of them. Relays have a geared up in thermal overload protection on a number of them. they each and every so often go undesirable. changing the relay may be the 2d step.

no!!. get a second estimated.instead
that amount is too high.
I call super expensive 800.00
regular 300 to 500. involving parts replacement.
must of the time 200.repair leakage, freon and labor.(because, freon is too expensive)
