"There was a poll that showed me going up
yesterday,
not to be on the defensive. Actually I'm in pretty good shape
politically, I really am. I didn't mean to sound defensive. But I am.
Politicians, by the way, who pay attention to polls are doomed, trying to chase opinion when what you need to do is lead, set the tone" G.W. Bush, D.C
If politicians who pay attention to polls are doomed, and
Bush was paying attention to a poll, what conclusion can be reached regarding bush?

Bush keeps an eye on the polls, then says he doesn't. Pretty much like everything he says. Speaking out of both sides of his mouth is an art form.

Bush suddenly realized that maybe the American people were truly upset at him when the Dems recaptured Congress last November. He might've been a bit more expedient in noting people's disappointment.....perhaps kicking Rumsfeld out a couple weeks before Election Day might've saved the GOP. Not that I'm complaining.....

BTW, I'm not ruling out impeachment. With all the scandals and travesty this administration has suffered, my Spidey-sense says there's something worse coming on the horizon....and that's not just wishful thinking.

There is a difference in watching the polls and letting the polls govern.

And reading the speech of people and making a judgment about them is highly misleading. I read several trial transcripts a week. Highly learned people speak differently than they write.

Bush watches polls. any politician that says the don't is lying. Politicians should watch polls. The represent the people. Polls represent the views of the people.

There's light years difference between watching polls and allowing them to set your decision making process. Yes, I believe he keeps track, no, I don't believe he lets them set the tone for his decisionmaking.

At least he never took a poll to ask where he should spend his vacation.

I think he watches them but doesn't put too much stock into it.

Good point. You're so smart you should run for President. When you're old enough, of course.
