my battery icon's disappeared as well as my usb connection icon and my sound icon. And there's no arrow by the side of the clock.
Can anyone help me resolve this?

It cost £1000!!! it's not cheap, just a bit old and I can't afford a new one!

I've gone into every possible folder where turning them on is, and even though they're down as 'show always' they still not appearing

Battery

Start >> Control Panel >> Power Options >> Advance >> then click >> Always Show Icon On Task Bar

Sound

Start >> Control Panel >> Sound and Audio Devices >> Volume >> then click >> Place Volume Icon In TaskBar

Clock

Start >> Control Panel >> TaskBar and Start Menu >> Taskbar>> Notification Area >> click Show the clock

Usb....Icon....Not Sure as that is automatic..when you plug a USB Device into your Laptop a green arrow appears near your taskbar which you can click to safey remove hardware.

Each of the items you list has an option for whether or not to display the icons in the taksbar. Somehow they must have gotten turned off. Go into the control panel and look under "Power Options" to turn on the battery icon and under "Sound" to turn on the volume icon.

visit regulate panel -> potential innovations -> stepped forward and verify consistently teach icon on activity bar wait... scratch that, you suggested you tried that. suited click the place the clicking is, click on customize notifications locate your battery meter and set it to consistently teach you suggested that too. what happens once you attempt plugging your ac adapter in/out? does an icon look? if it does suited click on it and if it has any innovations to set the icon to consistently teach, decide on it

May be worth trying system restore before going to reloading the operating system. (if not already tried)

I think your system is damaged somehow .. try to reinstall your operating system after backing up your important files
