Showers... there isn't any such thing.. but of course public bathrooms are a good way to wash up.
And, cooking doesn't really work without a stove.. so you wait in line at the neighborhood shelter and hope to meet their cut to get a hot dinner that evening.
It's sad to see the amount of homless people in our society... and how jaded we are towards them.

I spent 2 weeks in my van after moving to a new city, better job. with $39 in my pocket i bot the basics and as for showering and food I went to a local shelter to eat and shower, until i had enuff $ saved up for a new place

Yeah, I used a friend's shower, or showered at work, and bought things that didn't need to be cooked, or ate fast food (YUCK)
