1, We are the wealthiest country with the highest quality of life.
2. Our diversification and constitution promote tolerance of all groups of people.
3. Our educational infrastructure, social programs, and economy, provide the most opportunity for upward socio-economic mobility
4. Everybody else wants to come here.
I don't think in general Americans recognize the economic prosperity, freedom, and opportunity that they enjoy. Although we are despised by the rest of the world, it is hard to argue that there is a better place to live than the U.S.A.

because we have the ability to change the focus of our government with something as simple as a vote. (now if only Bush would listen)
seriously though.. it depends on how you look at it.. some would say economy, some would say military.. some would say opportunity.. I can only tell you what makes it the greatest country to me..
