Dear Arvind,
Since you have put your question in Philosphy section I expect that every one who answer you question must have a certain level of knowledge. You can't just call every other thing as rubbish which you can not do or prove.
I am not a supporter of Horoscope or Astrology. Here is my answer which occured to me over a period of last 10 years.
This is applicable not just to horoscope or astrology but every other logy which claims that it can predict the future and tell the past.
Bear in mind, Stars or Planets NEVER AFFECT you Life or Future, no way. But Astrological science is aboslutley CORRECT. As far as I am concerened I know persons who can predict the future by
1. Astrology
2. Palmistry
3. Just Thumb Reading
4. Face Reading
5. Reading sole of Foot
6. Reading shadow
7. Hearing the Voice
8. Crystal Gazing
9. Tea Leaves in a Cup/Jug
9. Any other object of thing of the person concered
I used to wonder how it is possible. Each one is using different methods to arrive at similar predictions. Questions used to come to my mind. But a thought got fixed in my mind " Is every thing in the world is related to every other thing" "Is it possible to know about each in the world by using any other thing". And the answer I think is "Yes"
Yes it is possible.
Similarly it is possible to predict the life of person on the basis of movement of planets and stars. But they just give indications of the coming future and DO NOT SHAPE your future. HOROSCOPY is INDICATIVE. Your OWN KARMAS shape your future and by studing HOROSCOPE you can know in advance, what is going to happen after some time.
I hope you got my point. If you interested . read following
Following points in the artiles given in this link will help in understanding my conclusions.

Bell's Theorem-Vedanta and Quantum Physics
The most important discovery in the history of science.
A description of the proof of Bell's theory, as given by Stapp reads:
"If the statistical predictions of quantum theory are true, an objective universe is incompatible with the law of local causes."
Although formidable at first glance, Bell's Theorem seems simpler once key terms are understood.
First, an "objective universe" is simply one that exists apart from our consciousness.
In 1935, Albert Einstein, together with Nathan Rosen and Boris Podolsky proposed through flawless mathematical reasoning that if the quantum theory were correct, then 'A change in the spin of one particle in a two particle system would affect its twin simultaneously, even if the two had been widely separated in the meantime'. And 'simultaneous' is a dirty word in the theory of special relativity, which forbids the transmission of any signal faster than the speed of light. Obviously, a signal telling the particle 'what to do' would have to travel faster than the speed of light if instantaneous changes were to occur between the two particles.
Certain quantum physicists now say that each part of the universe contains all the information present in the entire cosmos itself (similar to a giant oak tree producing an acorn that contains all the information to replicate itself).
This assertion is so audacious that it would be dismissed out of hand were it not for the scientific stature of its chief proponent David Bohm, a former associate of Einstein, professor of theoretical physics at Birbeck College of University of London. He is regarded as one of the pre-eminent theoretical physicists of our day.
Bohm maintains that the information of the entire universe is contained in each of its parts. There is, he says, a stunning example of this principle in photography: the hologram (literally whole message).
For Bohm, order and unity are spread throughout the universe in a way which escapes our senses. In the same way that order and organisation are spread throughout the hologram. Each part of the universe contains enough information to reconstitute the whole. The form and structure of the entire universe is enfolded within each part.

The methodology is absolutely correct but it should have very correct inputs (ie time ,date&place of birth to make the horoscope accurate) . It is a science .

The methodology is perfect. The person has to reach the required level of "application" of the methodology, to be able to derive the correct results.
It depends on person to person, and also the capability of each person at a given time(the body-mind coordination is not same , stable or at peak levels all the time for the same person).
This individual performance level is applicable for a medical surgeon too, but he gets easily 'excused' for failures than most efficient astrologers ! Very difficult to convince a prejudiced mind.

Don't believe it. All those methodology to calculate our future is baseless, there is no scientific proves. No one astrologers will give any surety to occur the future incidents. How can affect the planets with a very very farther away distant to our lives. The astrologers says that there are nine planet es includes "RAGHU","GETHU" .(RAGHU is nothing but snake,If you have a long stick with some courage you can smash and kill it) In lat test news is even Neptune is not a planet. All those horoscopic methodology is fraud, baseless, its a business to their life.Don't believe those ,believe yourself.

Absolutely wrong. There is no way that the motion of planets through constellations, which only exist in the imagination of man and have no real existence, can influence anyone's future. Remember, those constellations are not actually groups of stars, they only appear to be from here and are actually spread out over millions of light years.

Horoscope is a weather report for the your life, it just tells you which periods could be good or bad, but people tend to expect exact outcomes, that is when they think that the astrology is not correct.

it's a bit both! we have cocrete examples of cheiro, varahamihira(the great mathematician)and others!.
horoscope/palmistry/fortune telling are all double meaning sciences .. if it says u r going to jail, then u can be a convict or a member in jail staff!
remember one thing neither u nor i can change the future even if we know it! so the better way of living is by ignorig it!
last but not the least, our future is a mystery lets have the enjoyment of solving it!

While I don't 'live' by the horoscopes...I do read them for fun. But I do find it strange that some days it hits it right on the nose according to what is going on in my life. Like the other day...it told me not to back slide in financial responsibilities....that reminded me I needed to pay my bills! (We recently built a new living room...and got caught up in doing that)
