At this time, there is not yet an upgrade version of Vista available on the market.

It is scheduled for release later this winter or early spring. The versions of Vista currently floating around as BETA versions (meaning they are designed for testing, not for everyday use.) I would strongly recommend that you wait 2-3 months until the full commercial version of the program is released. It should include an "upgrade" version specifically for installing on XP machines that will not delete the current data, etc., off the machines. But it is not yet available...

As for your screen resolution issue, you may want to check the web site of whoever manufacturered your PC (or video card) and download the lastest version of the driver for the PC. Usually that will resolve resolution issues.

ok, i haven't had experience with vista yet but it can't be any different thatn instauling any os. so once you get into setup for vista it will probably give you an option to reformat your hard drive, don't that deletes everything just setup a partition. it should be easy there are only 2 options and one will warn you about losing everything
good luck

As with any operating system never upgrade on top of an old operating system. Always format and start fresh with the new operating system !

Two things you need to do!
1. Take your PC into someone who knows what they are doing because it sounds like you aint got a clue!
2. Take a basic computer course!
