The Israeli government has warned repeatedly that it will never allow nuclear weapons to be made in Iran, whose president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has declared that “Israel must be wiped off the map”.

Revealed: Israel plans nuclear strike on Iran
UZI MAHNAIMI, NEW YORK AND SARAH BAXTER, WASHINGTON

ISRAEL has drawn up secret plans to destroy Iran’s uranium enrichment facilities with tactical nuclear weapons.
Two Israeli air force squadrons are training to blow up an Iranian facility using low-yield nuclear “bunker-busters”, according to several Israeli military sources.

Israeli officials believe that destroying all three sites would delay Iran’s nuclear programme indefinitely and prevent them from having to live in fear of a “second Holocaust”.

When you talk about wiping another country off the map just for the heck of it, you go straight into the madman catagory.

Of course, Israel could handle things alot better than they do. If they are going to use force, they should have crushed Hezbollah. Instead, they ruined Lebanon and made more enemies for nothing.

Anyway, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is a very dangerous, make no mistake about it.

If Israel has made such plans, it WON'T be on the 10 o'clock news beforehand! What you've heard is just speculation.

I'd be in favor of taking out nuclear components.
Whereas the threat of mutually assured destruction in the past prevented, for example, the US and Russia from nuking each other, nutty Arabic rulers wouldn't care if by attacking Israel in that fashion that millions of their own people would die. They really wouldn't care, and they'd STILL find a way to blame it on Israel!

I think Israel has a perfectly legitimate reason to use whatever means necessary to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons It will save the US from having to do it. Ahmadinajad is a fruit but he's just a puppet

Here's what I think.

Israel cannot keep using the Holocaust as a carte blanche to act outside of the normal rules of international relations.

It's been over 60 years since then.

As for Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, from what I've seen and heard, he is quite intelligent, well-spoken, and he definitely has a philosophical system worked out for viewing the world. In his assessment, Israel is a symbol of injustice to all Arabs, and other Muslim peoples. This is because Israel was created after World War II. But World War II was a European mistake. So why, he asks, was Arab land taken away and given to Jewish settlers, arriving from Europe. Shouldn't a section of Germany been sliced away and given to the Jews, since the Holocaust was their fault?

It's a rather sound argument. His nuclear program is another thing. He believes it is the right of any nation to control how they go about getting power. The problem with nuclear power, in the view of Israel and America, Iran's overt enemies, is that it can lead to the bomb. Even if it can lead to bombs, do Israel and the US have any right to say Iran cannot pursue a course of obtaining "nuclear energy"? Here Mahmoud says resoundingly, "No. They have no right, since that infringes on the sovreignty of the Iranian nation."

In both cases, I must admit that I can see his point, and in fact, it seems well-argued and rational. On the other hand, he has some powerful enemies, and he openly despises Israel. That makes this a very dangerous situation, since he seems like a determined fellow, but he's in the position that would have to submit in this situation, since Israel and America will never submit to a second-world Muslim nation. So some kind of war is pretty much inevitable, as many have noticed.

But do I think he's mad. Absolutely not. He is standing up for his religion/larger cultural group. And he is standing up for his nation, which he is one of the leaders of. Does disagreeing with America and Israel automatically make someone crazy? It seems to mean that, these days....

Is he a good Muslim? It could be.

Jihadists today invoke the Quran to justify the worst terrorist crimes. Throat slitting of infidels is mentioned in the Quran. Al-Mawardi (d. 1058), the prominent 11th century jurist quoted this verse, specifically, « When you encounter those who deny (the Truth) then strike (their) necks. » (Quran 47 :4), in his learned discussion of jihad. This ritual execution is also mentioned in other Muslim legal texts and in narratives of Christian and prominent Muslim historians. Today it is performed against infidels and recorded on videotape for the edification of Muslim audiences.

Ahmadinejad goes far beyond this. He wants to get nuclear weapons and he wants to wipe Israel off the map.

The West has its job cut out for itself, to stop this madman before he gets what he wants and does what he wants.

basically because he's smarter than you does no longer make him a madman. What do not you ask Mr. Bush why he financed Mr. Ahmadinejad rigged Victory election. "WHY do not civilized international locations advance UP even as they nonetheless can and overwhelm the barbarians who do no longer recognize life"? basically... Civilized international locations do no longer kill human beings!

His message is that reason for establishing State of Israel on Arab land are not valid. Therefore, Jews population should be relocated to the area of their supporters. Iran has Jews population of 20,000. There is no question of hurting a man on the basis of his religion. The impression is totally wrong that Iran will Bomb Israel or any other country can use atom bomb.

1) Madman - for his threats to wipe Israel off the face of the earth and for his denial that the Holocaust ever happened.

and

2) Good muslim - for being able to quote verbatim from the Koran and tie it into the destruction of the Jewish race.

What a guy...I wouldnt be surprised if they gave him the nobel prize for peace just as they did for Arafat the greatest terrorist that ever lived.
