Are computer dvd-rom drives restricted to only playing dvds from particular regions in the same way that dvd players are? If so, is there anything I can do to allow my computer to play dvds from other regions?

Dvds are region specific and if you need to change the regions there is a free program called DVD Shrink that allows you to. There are some DVDs that it has trouble reading now though including new Sony Dvds and some Disney ones. For the most part if you need to change regions this seems to work.

You can do what I had to do with my Italian DVDs and have your computer DVD-ROM drive set for the foreign region. Mine only allows the region to be switched 6 times, then it stays in one.

DVD's have diverse area codes in diverse international places. by way of a pair international places have diverse launch dates or diverse pricing. So if i purchase one area a million DVD, it rather is going to purely paintings in US & Canada, so there may be no longer factor bringing back to the united kingdom because it won't paintings.
