What courses do you recommend, and what courses do i need to take?

If you attend a comprehensive high school there should be classes that are directly related to this field and they will have prerequisites to the class. Mathematics such as Algebra, Geometry and Physics. Any class that will teach you about schematics will also help you. In addition, you can obtain a study guide for the licensure exam and get an idea of the types of things you will be tested on and take classes that are related to the subjects on the exam.

My husband is an electrician and i would highly suggest that you take math for one. Once you have finished school you can go and apprentice at an electrical company while you are going to electrical college. Often the company you work for will help you pay for college too.

Take a decent set of math courses - you won't need calculus, but algebra and geometry would be helpful.
Take shop classes, too - especially if they cover any sort of home construction or repair.
A basic physics class would help, too.
