From someone who knows they have a black thumb my first thought is "the second you pull out a weed". That is what it seems like, lol.
From everything that I know about plants, etc.; you have to take in account the wind or anything that could bring a weed seed to where you don't want it. It takes only a few days for a seed to germinate and about a week before you can see a speck of a weed on the ground. Trust me... weeds grow fast when they have a way; to try to keep weeds out of garden lay down some black plastic down, making a hole where your plant is.

I think they're talking about WEED, not weeds...
