You'll go in labor when you are meant to go in labor. 1 cm and 50% is a start, but it could still be a while. Just walk a lot, and if you feel like it, have sex.

I totally get what you're going through. I'm 38 weeks, 5 days (Due Jan. 17) and have been in early labor according to the dr. for 2 weeks now with every labor symptom including contractions every 2-4 minutes. Hospital's sent me home because of no progress twice already. Even the fun remedy isn't working for us either. I wish I had some great advice to help but I hope just knowing you're not the only one stuck at 1 cm and 50% effaced helps some. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!

I'm assuming that this is your first pregnancy. You could stay at 1cm forever, then suddenly progress quickly. It's a good sign that you are 50% effaced. I stayed at 1cm for two weeks overdue, but 100% effaced. I'm not trying to depress you but be ready for anything. No one can tell you exactly the outcome of your delivery. Only your body knows that. Depending in what your doctor says, they may induce you at your due date. Just be careful that if after 10 hours of labor you aren't progressing, demand an emergency c-section. DO NOT PLAY AROUND WITH THIS. It's a serious matter.

I'll tell you what happened to me because we kept waiting for my body to progress and it didn't. Broke my water, induced me even when I was having contractions naturally...didn't work. I know that no one wants one (c-section) but I went into labor for 36 hours and waited and waited and waited, slowly dilating. My daughter ended up in fetal distress and meconium aspiration at birth (due to a nurse not paying attention to the monitors). I did have her naturally but at a heavy price. She stayed in NICU for 13 days and now has developmental delay and mild cerebral palsy. She's 6 years old and still wears diapers at night and pullups during the day, doesn't speak yet and has cerebral palsy on the right side of her body, and hearing loss in both ears.

Just be proactive while in labor and make sure the nurses are monitoring you every 15 minutes. Make sure the nurses are making eye contact with you and are alert at all times. BTW, my daughter was born on New Years Day.

Good luck, and I'm sure you'll be fine. Just wanted to caution you on what could happen.

If it's your first baby, sometimes they're late. My first was 10 days late and the doctor did decide to induce. But that doesn't mean that you will have to be induced too, every pregnancy and every woman is different. It doesn't sound like you are in true labor, it's probably just Braxton-Hicks. I wouldn't try any more home remedies till you check with your doctor. Good luck and congratulations!

You will go into labor when it is time. All this inducing stuff is ridiculous. Have you ever heard of a woman not going in to labor eventually. You wont be pregnant forever. Most women go into labor anywhere from week 37 to week 42. Women used to go into labor even later then week 42 on rare occasions, but fairly recently doctors started to induce. You aren't even at forty weeks yet. Just walk, get lots of rest, drink lots of water, have some orgasms and be patient. It will happen when it is meant to happen. Also, congratulations!!!

Dont do home remidies, the oil will only cause you to have diarrhea really bad, and if baby is long labor there is a slight chance their stool could release in sac causind a danger. I was 3 Cm 75% effaced for 4 weeks, let nature take its course, relax and enjoy the rest of the prego time, if in doubt, and your not on bed rest, try the fun remedy if your up to it, make love and see if that will do the trick, But you may be 1cm for weeks. Good luck... Mommy of 2

it should happen on its own but every pregnancy is completely different. when i was 39 weeks pregnant just two months ago i wanted my baby out so badly i tried all of the home remedies myself too and they did not work for me. finally i gave up and was three days past my due date when my water broke. i was on the couch eating a banana. weird. most dr.s wont induce yo unless their is a problem with either you or the baby and if there isnt they usually wait two weeks after due date anyway. hang in there.

i was 1 cm for about 3 weeks, and ended up being induced a week after i was due. sometimes it happens by itself, sometimes not.

its a game of waiting right now.

Good luck, and congrats though!

the rigors you're having is probable indicators of early not hassle-free artwork yet you won't be having them yet yet some thing is achieveable. i might want to easily take it hassle-free and stick with medical doctors orders. try layin on a heating pad

Try going for a nice long walk. That worked for me when it was my due date and my baby just wouldn't come.
