I am almost 38 weeks pregnant and all night and morning I have had minor cramping and bad gas at times, the pains even woke me up throughout the night. The pains come and go but not consitent in time. I have had 2 children before but it was a long time ago (14yrs and 9yrs) I do remember cramping in the begining but I dont remember if I had gas as well. I don't want to go the hospital already and them have me sit there for hours just to send me home with GAS. Has anyone ever experienced this in late pregnancy or during labor??

It could just be Braxton-Hicks contractions, sometimes called "false labor", just getting your body ready to go. But I would call your doctor just to be sure. You could also be in true labor since it's your 3rd, sometimes later babies come a little earlier. The gas could just be from something you ate that isn't digesting quite right, remember there's very little extra room in there right now and maybe your intestinal tract is a little crowded. Good luck and congratulations!

Well, I've had 3 kids. I cramped from about 36 weeks until I delivered with all 3. You are probably having MILD contractions or even Braxton Hicks contractions. And the gas is very normal.
Here is what I recommend. Rate your pains on a scale of 1 to 10. You know how much pain you can tolerate. If the contractions (or cramps as you will) pass the 5-6 mark, I'd either call your doctor or go to the hospital. If they hit a 10, go immediately. You don't want to take a chance on being surprised, better safe then sorry. Funny we say that we forget how it feels, you said it has been awhile....but when you are having full on contractions, you will definitely remember. Good luck to you and congratulations!

It might be early labor. It's time to go to the hospital when pains come with great force every 5 minutes or so. It almost will feel like really bad gas cramps and you will most likely not be able to talk during a contraction or even stand up straight.

It sounds like you may be in the *very* early stages of labor, and you don't need to go to the hospital yet.

Have you lost your mucus plug yet? At 38 weeks, you should be getting weekly checkups, so you should probably know this. Were you already dialated some?

Having said the above, call your OB! Their office is there to answer these questions, and tell you what they want you to do.

But, as a general rule, until the contractions start to get regular, you have a ways to go.

Point one million: Every get together has to uncover volunteers to face as applicants. Not sufficient volunteers - now not sufficient applicants. Point two: Standing in a hopeless ward, even though fascinating for the entire countrywide events, isn't regularly functional, and, of direction, bills cash. Standing manner placing up a deposit, and publishing election fabric. Point three: In 2007 I do not believe any get together is fielding applicants in additional than 60% of the entire council seats up for election. There is a ward close me that is surely solidly Tory. A few years in the past the Tories could not uncover a candidate. Nor might some other get together besides Labour. So he received the seat through default. The man was once a conventional ancient staunch socialist and it was once rather ironic that he spend four years representing a prime Tory rural ward. The Tories made certain they post a candidate four years later. P.S. If you are going to cite Shakespeare you must a minimum of comprehend it. "Wherefore" truthfully manner "why are you", now not "wherein are you". Juliet was once asking why Romeo needed to be from a loved ones with whom hers had a feud.

Call the Dr or go to the hospital if your water breaks or if you have contractions 5 minutes apart. Im 35 weeks along and have been experiencing the same thing for a couple weeks now but nothings happened yet

Call your doctor. You could be having back labor or the baby may just be dropping and changing the way your body is functioning. Either way, your doctor knows best. They are paid to answer questions and give you piece of mind during your entire pregnancy.

Even though your previous labor were sometime ago, by the third your body knows what it is doing. During my thrid labor, my symptoms were mild. You never know. Better safe than sorry.

Good Luck!

I was very gassy going into labor and had minor cramps, but i do remember the doctor stating that towards the end it can be difficult to distinguish the difference between the two, but getting checked out is always the safe thing to do.

Time the cramps, to see if they are coming at set times or if they are increasing in pain and frequency. That's usually the best indicator. If you continue to be concerned, call your doctor.

I started passing gas and that is how we knew it was time for me to start pushing. I would advice you to call the doctor. You could just have a good tolerance for pain and that is why it doesn't seem like it could be more than gas. (I understand not wanting to go in though... I got told I was peeing my pants. :) ) Good luck
