My husband had this huge swelling on his knee and it turns out it was water on the knee, is she into sports or did she do something where she was kneeling? Iknw he was kneeling a lot on that knee at work and the doctor said that can happen, but you should contact the doctor to be sure if it is water you can tell because when you press the lump it feel a little soft and even a bit hot

Sounds like something I had. It could be that she has pulled the ligament that holds the knee cap in place and attaches o the top of the shin. IF that's what it is, it's not immediately serious, but you should get a physiotherapist to look at it soon.

what exactly does it look like? if it looks like a bruise and keeps getting bigger you should take her to a doctor or the hospital.
really make sure she didn't bump it first. i don't want you to get to excited but plz get her checked out b/c if it looks like a bruise and gets bigger they are signs of Leukemias.
a friend of mines little girl got a small bruise on her leg and by the end of the day it was twice the size and they didn't know what it came from b/c they didn't remember bumping her leg so they took her to the emergency room and ran a lot of test and it was first signs of Leukemias and thank God they caught it in time. she is well and a happy little girl now...
