Shellbyville is nice town. My sister in law has lived there for about 15 yrs. Some nice homes in the area too.

Most areas are pretty safe, though as always the larger cities have some rough areas, but also more job opportunities. Opportunities are depending on what type of work you're wanting, pay is generally lower in Tennessee than in S Florida.
Check "Places Rated Almanac" for a lot of great info on any area

Before moving to a new area, I always called the local police of that area and asked about the neighborhood. They were more than willing to tell me. Another thing to try is looking for jobs in the area you choose in their local newspaper, or on the internet. Check with the employment office to see how many openings there are in your field of work. I would love to hear how you do, because what you are doing is what I plan on doing in 3 years!

Depends on what part of Tennesse your looking to move to. There are sections of it that I wouldn't go into unarmed. Most of the rural areas are nice though. There is work , it really depends on your background and where your looking to move.
More information would be useful.

The Gatlinburg area is great, but lots of tourism. If you like Tennessee, you would also like N. Carolina or Kentucky. You should also check into those areas.
