I bought my new flat a couple of months ago and it has a fully-installed alarm in it. Unfortunately, the previous occupants lost the code and as it was installed before they moved in, they don't know which company made it.
There's no info on either the interior or exterior boxes as to who makes the alarm - there's not even an alarm name!
Does anyone know of a company who can reset alarms no matter what the brand/make?

I've never seen a panel without some sort of name or number on it!! It could be any one of dozens of manufacturers, all who have different reset procedures. You could try 0123 or 9999 it is often the defaul code if it has never been programmed. Otherwise all you can do is phone around local companies (Yelow Pages) untill you find someone willing to help.

The box on the wall is just that, the key pad is the brains coupled with the "panel" which will be in a secure location ( in the attic under the stairs or generally with your fuse panel). On either (usually) the key pad or the panel (occasionally) is the manufacturers details, start with this and a general discription of the keypad - number of switches/buttons layout etc. Then get on the phone to any - certainly most of the better Alarm Co's in the area and describe the unit down the phone - they are authorised to check out the engineering codes with the manufacturers and can normally call you back with the nos you need or come round and do it. There are Codes of Practice that will not permit them to give out certain bits of information and it depends on the type of property - block of flats/house / police or other monitored alarm as to what can be done. If there was a Co that gave out alarm info as you request they would be very popular (with the local burglars)

You could call the company that installed it and they will reset it - but they will charge for doing so.
Alternatively, you can open up the control panel (wearing ear muffs for when the tamper alarm goes off) and pull the factory setting link and then replace it. All your settings will be reset - including codes and zone names and zone sensitivities. You'd have to reprogram everything.
The simplest thing is to just call the alarm company and have them do it.

a professional locksmith may be able to do it. The company which made the alarm will - almost certainly - have an override code or jumper which can be reset.
Either way, you will have to prove that you are authorised to reset the code.

can you-take the cover off, it might have a phone number or makers name inside?
