Why did the Aztecs allow Cortes to enter freely upon Mexican land? (There was a legend that said in the year of atl (or something like that) or in English in the year of rice... a white, bearded man would arrive and he would be their new king.) So that is when Cortes arrived... they thought it was their prophesy or biblical prediction coming true.
Why did Cortes take advantage of the Aztecs after they showered him in gold, etc.?
