Last year was my first in planting a home veg. garden. It went very well except for my corn. I had either deer or racoons get into all of it. What can I do to keep these critters out of my corn this year?

Consider putting up garden fencing. It works! especially for rabbits and deer! Except on coons. They can get into anything. There are also certain herbs you can mix with water that will keep them away. You can also buy sprays that are all natural that keep them away. Check out some DIYnet.com, or HGTV.com for some answers, and then, if you don't find them, go to a garden shop, not just a flower shop, and ask a pro in person!

One easy way is to string up aluminium pie plates. if there is any lights in the area they reflect off the plates and keep the animals away. This has worked great for my mother in law. Also animals hate the smell of Zest soap.Put shavings around the garden and if this doesn't work although it sounds bizarre the next time you cut your hair put it in the garden to keep the critters away. all these things I have seen working, so good luck!

I would try one of two things:

1. A scarecrow (seriously)
2. Some sort of plant that either has an odor or a thorn that deters animals

dont put up an electric fence, please... lol

put up a gardening fence. And far away from the garden put out old veggies or left over food for the animals to eat. It will keep em' away from your veggies!

You want the animals to come in! Not stay out!

Oh wait...
Are you playing Viva Pinata?

If not...then I suggest moving your garden into your garage where you can grow under U/V lighting!
