You should definitely call the landlord and get out. Get out first and call the landlord to see when the issue is going to be resolved. If it's on the news you should talk to reporters and let them know what you know. Put some pressure on some city officials to fix it. Don't smoke or light a match.

Just heard that on the news
Being up on the 40th floor, you should be safe. Gas is heavy and the worst place to be is on the ground where it's more concentrated

Get out.

Dr. Bartha had a similar leak in Manhattan and his entire building blew to smithereens. Don't strike any matches or make any sparks.

Keep walking away until you can't smell it anymore and then walk further. Don't just stand around outside the building.

Get out NOW. NOW!! Take your pets, but don't dilly-dally! Get off the computer! If you can smell it, get out. Turn off all appliances if you have time. Sparks can ignite it.

GET THE HELL OUT! One little spark could make it blow! Go see your family or something, grab your pets, pack a bag, and GO GO GO!
