You are given a box with a big red button on it. If you press the button, £50 million pounds immediately enters your bank account. However, someone you don't know, somewhere in the world immediately dies as well.
Would you press it? Be honest now!

YES. Then spend the money saving as many people as possible from the sufferings from hunger and war as I possibly could.
Saving 1,000 where 1 dies is a fair trade. If I was the one. I would go happily provided the money went to aid those in need.

Gosh, what a question. I think we'd all like to think we'd say no. I think we all pretend we'd say no...but would we really. Let's analyse this.
We happily leave our TVs on standby, live in a disposable society, use goods that have been manufactured using dubious labour sources, hunt non-edible animals, fly regularly and so forth.
We in the west (myself included) constantly behave in a manner that more or less does exactly what you are asking - sacrificing one element of the world's population to benefit another.
So most people would probably do exactly that - so long as the person to die remains anonymous.

Sorry but yes I would!! Every day someone in the world dies that's just life. When one is born another dies, that's the way the cookie crumbles baby!! Although if I could find out who it was I'd probably send money to pay for the funeral.

What a question.
No I could'nt press it. Probably the person I caused to die would be related to me.
Just as well this is not going to happen.

No, but wouldn't it be tempting. You could help so many other people in the developing countries with the dosh.
If you didn't know the person who died how would you know they had died.
