Does anyone remember that series of coffee comercials from the late eighties/early nineties that was the on going story of the blossoming romance between two middle age, academic looking neighbors who are always borrowing coffee from each other. What kind of coffee was it? What was the story and how did it end?

In the UK, there was a series of commericals for Nescafe's Gold Blend, starring Sharon Maughan and Anthony Head (better known as Giles from Buffy). They may have been also transmitted in the US, but I am not sure. In the final ad in 1987 they did indeed kiss - it was front page news in The Sun.

Stewart B is right - they were the same commercials that aired in Britain. I remember seeing it in Entertainment Weekly after Buffy was on the air. They had a little sidebar about Giles being in them.

I used to apply those categorised commercials as a instruction manual for my breakup conversations with women folk i ought to no longer be around.. It additionally made for some particularly good comeback lines while women folk might provide me the "I purely such as you as a pal" speech.

It was Folger's coffee...I think they got married. ( I really don't know what happened to them, just the name of the coffee..)
