He seemed to transcend genders and all ethnicities... even had a movie or two. What was it about him that people liked so much?

He was the ultimate man-child and brought out the kid in people. He had cool retro toys - the stuff people remembered having as a kid or the stuff people wanted when they were kids but never had. Pee Wee had no cares and played all day long -- an enviable position in which to be. If people would have left his private life alone and out of the news, he would still be around today. When people realized he was just a guy with real guy needs - it totally destroyed the illusion.

He was NUTS and hillarious! I loved Pee Wee Herman. He was robbed!!
I bought his first movie for my kids, and they LOVE it.

when you're growing up with it, pee wee's playhouse is the bomb! i loved that show, and the movies. he's funny, yet repetitive, which is great for kids learning.
