Hi, I recently bought a gps that has a warning label california propositon 65. That the product contain cancerous material. I called that company and they said the product contained lead soldering. My question, lead dangerous when its not being physically touched by human hands, or ingested? Does lead form vapors of lead ?or deteriote forming dust of lead.

Thanks

Actually everything forms a vapor, it is just difficult to detect at room temperature.

Like most metals, lead does corrode in time, and the salts formed on the surface are toxic.

It all depends upon how much hazard you are willing to accept and your gender.

Most companies which handle lead (battery makers for example) have decided that the danger to female emplyees is so high that women are not allowed to work in certain areas.

California boilerplate baloney. Unless *you* are doing extensive amounts of soldering yourself, the exposure you get to lead from just owning and using lead-soldered electronics is negligible.

Take the label off.If that was the only carcinogenic in your life, you'd live to be 300 before you had any adverse effects
