I have just booked up for the bellagio in april, so hopefully that will be nice. it was a bit dearer tho than a few others.
Cheaper but seemingly good hotels that came up were the luxor, new york new york, and mgm. these are all located at the southern end of the strip, and people told me that they are slightly out of the way.

We wanted a hotel in the centre of the strip, options we had were flamingo (that came up quite cheap, and a friend has been in there and said it was nice!) the paris, the bellagio, ceasars palace etc. We chose the Bellagio so im hoping its nice, it looks it.

Numerous people have told me that the circus circus is aweful, so avoid that one.

The stratosphere is way out so I would avoid that too.

If your on a budget, Id say go for the flamingo.
Its location is spot on
It come up at a good price
My friend has been there and he says it nice, and he's been 3 times to Vegas.

Good luck

There are many deals at expedia.com and travelocity.com
lasvegas.com

There are casinos everywhere - so don't feel you have to lose all of your money at one location.
There are roller coasters on top of tall buildings.
There are white tigers on the first floor side area of the Mirage.
There are outside shows at Treasure Island.
Gambling:
There are many where you can lose $50 without even trying, then win $10, then win another $50.
It's easy to lose $100+ a day minimum, so if you're smart
you'll back away if you lose $20 - and try your luck another time, or another day.

Best location, and I stayed there January 2006, was the Mirage and it's next to Treasure Island, across from Venetian Grand canal, and down the street are Bellagio and the Eiffel tower.
You can walk everywhere, or take the bus when your feet get tired (very cheap).

Don't forget to lunch at the Eiffel tower - pricey but great, great food, and across from the fantastic Bellagio fountains that have themes - yes dancing fountains w/music when you're outside to hear.

Lunch also at the revolving restaurant -where you can see all of Vegas during the day - THE STRATOSPHER. The food was magnificent and you can see if you go at lunchtime - where the people of Las Vegas live and the mountains that surround it.

Las Vegas - I saw Jay Leno and he was non-stop for 1 & 1/2 hours of jokes, and we got the last 2 seats in the far section, and it was still somewhat close because the entertainment area was well done!

We went to see Mystere show - and the best is called "O" which means water in French. The stage actually opens for people to dive into, and then closes for people to walk on it.
So amazing.

At the end of 7 days, I was ready to come home. It's exciting, but not enough to say, wow someday I'd consider living there.

GOD bless us one and all, always.

I've been to Vegas more times than I can count, she here is the lowdown on places I have actually stayed at.

New York, NY: centrally located, not too expensive, rooms aren't overly luxurious, but you could do a lot worse. Annoying roller coaster that is super loud (especially after a night of partying).

Excalibur: Tons of kids both staying there and visiting. Rooms are OK, a little dated maybe. Has a tram that goes to other hotels.

Mandalay Bay: Pretty sweet place to stay. Large updated rooms. Very cool pool/wave pool area, but it tends to get super crowded. Awesome restaurants and shark reef.

The Venetian: Luxurious rooms (actually suites). Super food and an awesome mall with gondola ride and street performers. Kinda pricey, but worth it.

The Four Seasons (located within Mandalay Bay): Wouldn't stay anywhere else. Very pricey, but sooo worth it for the service. Smaller private pool only for 4 Seasons Guests, they bring you frozen towels, iced grapes, ice-water (no charge). They will bring you lobster for lunch poolside if that's what you ask them to do! Room service is Superior. Will definitely cost an arm and probably a leg or two!

I stayed in the Hilton one year and a timeshare accommodation on the other. I loved the Aladdin hotel but dont know how expensive it is? You probably want to stay in a hotel more or less in the middle of the strip so you can get to go both ways whilst youre there. Go to www.vegas.com to get any offers. Have a nice time but avoid going around June, it was too god damn hot, reached 111 degrees whilst I was there!!

Luxor is a good one. Circus Circus is an older hotel so it's cheaper. Try booking with expedia, I got a great deal at Luxor on there at the end of last year, flights included too.

i'm a Treasure Island fan. I honestly have stayed there a pair cases and performance by no ability had a project. crew is pleasant and helpful. sellers honestly have some personality and helpful. MGM is likewise very helpful. Stayed once and can want to stay lower back. i might want to evade Casers Palace. Stayed there for 4 nights and had issues on a daily basis. after I complained they provided me an total $30 in motel credit.

I'm recommending the Luxor and Bally's.

Luxor is right next to Mandalay Bay - and connected, so its like staying at Mandalay.

Same with Bally's - connected to Paris.

Rates are good! Rooms are very nice! You can get a suite at the Lux very affordable.
