Isn't there a space museum at Cape Canaveral?

I agree about Disney, truly awful American distortions of European folk lore.

LOL If you think Walt Disney World is crap then you will surely be disappointed with everything else offered. Florida wouldn't be what it is today without Walt Disney World. There's really nothing better to do in Florida than go to Walt Disney World. I'm 20, and I go to Walt Disney World every summer for a minimum of ten days. I never leave Walt Disney World property either. You'd be surprised at all the fun stuff there is to do there. Besides the four theme parks and all the attractions there's two water parks, Downtown Disney, over 25 wonderful Resort options to explore, and over 150 fantastic dining options to enjoy. When I go to Walt Disney World, after I've spent a few days at the theme parks and water parks, I spend one day at Downtown Disney. There's a ton of cool shops and restaurants, DisneyQuest Indoor Interactive Theme Park, Pleasure Island (an assortment of night clubs), an AMC 24-Theatre Complex, and Cirque du Soleil: La Nouba. There's also all sorts of recreation at Walt Disney World. I like to go fishing on the Seven Seas Lagoon, go swimming in the Resort pools, play at the arcades, explore the different Resorts. This past summer I took the Seas Aqua Tour at EPCOT and got to swim in the aquarium with the sharks, sting rays, sea turtles, and other hufe fish. There was nothing tacky about that - it was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. Oh, and I love going to Disney's Grand Floridian Spa for massages. And going to the ESPN Club for lunch and to watch some sports on the 100 different monitors. There's other stuff to do, too, though. There's horseback riding, golfing, miniature golf, jet skiing, water skiing, wake boarding, parasailing, etc. And near the Magic Kingdom is the Richard Petty Driving Experience where you can take a class on how to drive a racecar, and then you actually get to drive one yourself at the end.

Seriously, you should think about checking out Walt Disney World - apparently, there's a lot more to it than just "tacky crap." It's not the number one vacation destination in the world because it's crap, it's because it's the Happiest Place on Earth.

The beach and Atlantic/Gulf are warm all year for sunbathing and swimming. Seafood and Sushi are great. Shopping in S.FL has export prices (go to Sawgrass Outlet Mall). Busch Gardens in Tampa has great rides when it's not so crowded. Better than Disney is Universal Studios in Orlando. The golf courses are great all year. In Miami, drive over both causeways to get to S.Beach (I-195 AND I-395) the sites are incredible day and night, however S.Beach at night is ugly (despite what you see on TV). In Ft. Lauderdale visit Las Olas Blvd and drive all the way to the beach. On the west coast, Sarasota is the most beautiful.

I'm a great fan of the Kennedy Space Center. Stop in the visitors center and book the old Canaveral tour. It takes you to Alan Shepard's minuscule launch area and then sadly over to Pad 34 where on 1/17/67 Grissom ,White and Chaffee died in the fire of Apollo 1. The Tour continues around the launch areas and you get to see all sorts of great space hardware including a Saturn V rocket laying on it's side.
Disney does fantasy well but NASA does reality even better.

Go down to the Florida Keys ,Book into a motel in Marathon and then use the days poolside or on the white coral sand beach
Take a trip to pigeon key and snorkel ,(True lies ,and Bond film location ,Licence to kill)
Take a trip to a coral reef or go swimming with the dolphins.
As dusk falls head out to Key West and Mallory square check out the free entertainers. They never roll the streets up in Key West .
So the beat goes on all night long.
You will love it on the keys.

Oh brother... you don't know what you're missing with Disney - they have all kinds of cool stuff for people of all ages. And from the sound of your message, you must be a teenager who is "too cool" for Disney ... SIGH...

Visit a beach like Cocoa or Siesta Key, go to Sea World, take an airbaot ride to see gators, visit Islands of Adventure for cool coasters.

Disney is cool - don't knock it till you try it
