You could ask a friend who is in orkut,a friendly community to send you an invitation through which you can create a gmail account..... I can send u one.....

ask ur friend to send gmail invitation to ur current id and fill the form and get a id in gmail

You can send an invitation to your self via your cell phone. Google will send a code which you'll need to input when setting up your account.
