If there was someone else's critter loose, wouldn't you want to know about it? You need to tell them about it, because of the simple fact that you probly paid alot for the spider, or at least someone did.
I'm terrified of spiders, so I could care less what happens to it, but I think you need to tell them because, what if it creeps upon someone who is terrifed of them?? You can cause them to have a heart attack, go into shock, which can lead to a coma, it can cause a mental scar, it can cause therapy, and very expensive bills that you can be responsible for. Not to mention, they'll take the spider, and any other creature living in your apt. even the dog or cat, if you have one.
I know that when I see a spider, of any size or color, I freeze up and cry, and I can't move. Then when I can move, all I can do is scream and run. Once I've stopped screaming, I can't breathe. I actually blacked out, and don't remember running back into my house one time, and another, I passed out and woke up on the couch. People get into car accidents when they see a tiny one drop from te visor.
So yea, you need to tell someone, before someone winds up in the hospital, or sueing you for emotional damages!!

Too late dude. Shudda told them when he first escaped. Now.. what's the use? Whoever finds him is probably going to kill him. Most people are not too receptive to large spiders, and especially to tarantulas! But who knows... someone else may find him and post "FOUND TARANTULA" signs all over your neighborhood in hopes of finding it's owner. Then you can call and go get it. Then you can hug your neighbor and you will have made a new friend... AND got your tarantula back. WOW! Wouldn't that be all peachy?
Believe me, that critter is long gone. He's probably holed up somewhere and will stay until spring before he comes out again.
I wouldn't put too much hope in getting him back, unless he's still in your apartment somewhere. And I wouldn't bother telling the other tenants. No need to create a fear factor in your neighborhood.

If you want to save its life it might be a good idea.
You might be able to get them to notify you to collect otherwise they may just stomp on it.
If it has not been de venomised - you, your brother or another tenant may get bitten without realising and could end up in a life threatening situation.
I say be responsible and do the right thing to safe guard others, (one of the tenants could have a friend who visits with a child.
Dogs like to eat spiders too.
If anything were to happen as a result of your negligence to notify, safeguard or advise people you could have a court case on your hands and it could cost you and your brother a lot of money.

Call the police! They are experienced in these matters.
Also because some jerk is probably going to call the cops on you for "endangering them"
So call and get the police input before you start something that could end up nasty. Get them on your side first!!
Do you have the TARANTULA on the lease? If not you can expect to have a harsh reaction from the landlord..
If anyone OVER reacts and moves out suddenly there is money damages that could be owed to the Landlord. Since you would be the cause of the loss in rent. Be careful!!
Call the cops and explain your situation anonymously. Once you get their take on it. Ask for help from them. You would be surprised how helpful our support agencies are when they are approached respectfully.
Good Luck!
Also, don't just notify the tenants. Tell the landlord first and give them time to figure out how to do damage control.
You could find yourself in an uproar for an immediate fumigation in every apartment. $$$$
Plus..you are completely innocent in however he got out. Do not take any blame, it will back fire on you! A friend stayed over and accidentally knocked it over and we found it later.

As soon as the temperature drops he will probably die, so pray for some cold weather before he bites someone. If your tarantula is one of the slower moving friendly varieties he probably isn't far away. However, if he is one of the fast and aggressive ones I would certainly tell your neighbours. This way you will have something in your favour , should they be bitten and legal proceedings ensue! They will also be aware of what treatment they need. Remember even a bee sting can kill some people.

What a thing to miss. Better caution other tenants about it. Even though their venom is not fatal to avoid the effects of the poison, ask the medical authorities whether there is any serum to be injected to all as a curative measure when sone one is bitten by your pet.

You should probably tell the landlord. A suggestion about where to look though. My aunt had one missing in her house for a couple of months--don't ask me how they stayed in there--and ended up finding it shriveled up but still alive under the stove. The vet said it went there because of the heat. Good luck!

You should atleast the ones close to your place. I am deathly afraid of spiders expachally really big ones. If you gave me warning then I would have time to evacuate untill the critter is found. If it ended up in my appartment the only thing you'd have to worry about dieing is me from a heart attack LOL
