When someone tells me their name is Hannah, I immediately think to spell it Hannah. However, if you spell it Hana, you are essentially spelling it the way it it pronounced. Depending on how you spell it, it has a different meaning (see below). And based just on the meaning of the name, I would personally go with Hana.

I do think the name is cute for a baby girl and will still be appropriate into adulthood.

HANNAH. Hannah is one of those hares of a name, zooming from the hind ranks to the forefront of favor in the space of a few years, starting not long after the release of Woody Allen's Hannah and Her Sisters. Not that we think Hannah is any nine days' wonder. Hannah is a classic, with Old Testament roots and a stylish background both in Georgian England and the pioneer West. Its appeal may be perceived as traditional or homey, aristocratic or down-to-earth. As Hannah, HANNA, or HANA, it relates to many different cultures, from Hebrew to Arabic, European to Asian. And it provided a new twist to Anna/Annie, which had become a bit overused. But now Hannah has become popular to the point of trendiness — inevitable, we fear, when a name leaps from obscurity to the Top 25 in a year or two. Now the third most popular baby name in Britain and number nine in the state of Oregon, it has appealed to such celebrity parents as Jessica Lange and Sam Shepard, Mel Gibson, Tom Selleck, and Elizabeth Perkins. Hannah was also the name of the first Beverly Hills 90210 baby. So although Hannah is a wonderful name, consider yourself warned.

I am glad that you are thinking of what it will be like when they are an adult! Not many parents take that into consideration. i.e a celebrity once named there little girl Dixie Dot.

I think Hannah is a beautiful name, both for a young child and an adult. But Hannah not Hana, it looks like it's missing the rest of the name when it is written like that.

1. I prefer Hannah or Hanna If you used Hana people would never know how to pronounce it. I think she would get HA-na alot.
2. I think it is a cute name and would grow with the child.

1. I like Hannah. Hana just does not look right and almost looks like it would be said like Hay-na.
2. It's a beautiful classic name that will always stand the test of time

Hannah is one of those rising-star names for a reason. It's simple, warm, timeless, and has biblical roots (if your into name meaning). Hannah is also a popular choice because it definately ages well! It's not cutesy, but still cute. I give it 2 Thumbs Up.
Spelling. Please spell the traditional way of Hannah. FIrst, people will mistakenly spell it this way constantly, and she will have to correct them anyway. The spelling "Hannah" looks more complete and feminine. "Hana" does not do Hannah the justice it deserves and does not look like a real name.
