Refurbishment means restoring them to their original quality. This is the standrad you should expect. Currys will have all the proper guarantees.

Be careful when buying from Currys / Dixons all the same company, only though experience bought a new laptop from them 999.00 little while ago so under Guarantee 12 months I thought only to find i had a fight on my hands to get repaired as keys fell off, created several problems and this was from show model as last one. I was told by manager in Bracknell the keys were not under warranty on the laptop. After a long drawn out battle including the papers, they were replaced and only 4 months old. So I would now have no dealings with the companies, go to Dell.

As long as it is certified by the manufacturer and it has a warranty, buying a refurbished laptop is a good idea as it will save you a lot of money.

Personally I have bought several and only had a few minor problems. I bought one from dell that came to me without the hard-drive, but they paid to have it shipped back and repaired it and sent it back to me within 2 weeks.

While most of them under-perform what you can buy normally, the price point is significantly less therefore making it a good investment.

Refurbs are tricky because they basically void the warranty that is issued when the unit is built. Sometimes they still apply and sometimes the manufacturer issues a 90 day warranty on refurbs.

Check with the manufacturer on the length of the rebate before you buy. You don't want to be stuck with a lemon that was cleaned up.

Its a role of the dice.
Make sure your Guarantee is in writing. And read the fine print. Some exclusions are rather nasty

Yup, just make sure you get a warranty from them. otherwise I'd recommend for you to buy a new one.

Yes, if there is a warranty and up to the specification you want it at.
