I will be going to a local tanning business, have not done spray on tan. I am doing this as an alternative, because can not use a tanning bed. We are going on vacation to tropical island next month, would like to not be so pale.

I did try tanning bed once, for two/three months it did not really make me darker. Some ppl just can not tan well, I must be one of those. Plus we have skin cancer that is in the family.

There are many great things about the spray on tan (mystic tan). First and for most no spray on tan is FDA approved. Make sure you wear nose plugs and other proper gear. Also ask what is in the mystic, a lot of these tanning business use more than the just the mystic solution. They had strong bronzers which may leave you orange. If you have pale skin do the lightest level and remember the point of the it, is for it to look at natural as possible. Also do not go over 24 hours before you take a shower. I suggest you wait at least 6 and no more than 24. Maybe do it right before you go to bed, then wake up and take a shower. Usually the spray on tans last about 7 days and the first 3-4 days are the best color. When doing the spray on the tan remember that sunscreen is a must. The spray on tan does not protect you from UV rays. DO NO USE ANY OILS, because there goes your spray on tan. Last but not least try it before you go. I would do a test run because what if you don't like it or it doesn't' take to your skin as well. This allows you to also see what makes were made as well.
Hope that helps! have fun on your trip

Done both-tanning beds and spray on. Spray ons are great for "quick fixes" especially if you have run out of time to establish a base tan. Make sure that you exfoliate your skin before going to get sprayed. This is very important. Drawbacks to spray tanning are as follows: (1) Can possibly turn more of an orange color instead of a brown. Now, this is basically because of your skin type and not necessarily the product used; (2) Streaking; (3) When the tan starts to fade, you often become blotchy, ie. there are parts of your body that remain darker longer; (4) Skin dryness; (5) Smell of the product. Advantages are pretty obvious: Immediate results!
Hope this helps. Remember to exfoliate before and moisturize during. Also, remember sunblock as the spray tan does not provide any sun protection whatsoever!
Have fun!!!

Remember that a spray on tan will not give you any actual UV protection, so remember to take a good sunblock with a high SPF factor and cover yourself well before exposure to tropical sun. Reapply every two or three hours especially after swimming or doing sport. When in the tropics I prefer one with multiple blocks including a titanium oxide even though it gives a slight metalic colour.
With the aesthetics, just make sure it is applied evenly and pay attention to the hands and feet where it can drip and dry heavily. Have fun and stay safe!!
(by the way, why cant you use a tanning bed?)( also will you keep tan lines or are you haveing a "full coating " of your spray-on tan?

Ya, you're right to steer clear of tanning beds. No one needs pre-mature aging or worse, cancer! Spray-on tans are nice and work with pretty much every skin tone. Although, you can get the same look for a lot cheaper at your local drug store. I prefer Nuetrogena's micro-mist tanning spray. It is an ultra-fine mist so you just spray and you're done - no need to rub in or get streaks. Clarins brand is also very good but a bit pricier. I've also heard that the St. Tropez brand is wonderful, although I've never tried it before.

They have great stuff! I love their White Shell N Bead Bracelet!

Spray on tans can be a great alternative to tanning beds, but be warned, if you have pale skin, the tan could turn out orange.

The spray on tan is just cosmetic, so don't think of it as getting a base tan for when you are on vacation. You'll still need plenty of suntan lotion.
