We all get dreams when we sleep, even though we don't remember then when we wake up(sth which usually happens when we are tired).
Dreams reflect our consciousness, our secret dreams and hopes. If you watch nightmares, that means that sth bothers you. Relax, drink milk before you go to bed, listen to relaxation music, turn off the light in your bedroom, and don't watch horror movies before falling asleep!
Good luck!

All Dreams result from thinking and thinking before sleeping .. So What You should actually do : is to sleep when you are totally exhausted like when you go to bed , you just fall asleep fast which won't give you the chance to think about anything. This will lead to normal sleep and ALSO dreaming but when you wake up , You won't even know that you had dreams or anything like this. Because You'll forget , anyone dreams but the ones saying they don't , They just forget.

In fact dreams make people get rested. If you sleep without dreaming, you feel tired when you wake up. It is good to sleep even if it is a bad dream. Don't stop dreaming.

Dreaming is an attribute of REM sleep, when the most restful sleep occurs. I've always heard that we dream every time we sleep for a normal sleep cycle, even if we don't remember it. I don't think you'll be able to not dream and still be rested. Even if you woke up every couple of hours, I don't think you'd be able to maintain this routine.
I think you need to focus on the content of your dreams, which could be influenced by what you ate before bed, something you are anxious about, what you were thinking about as you went to sleep, etc. I recommend reading something that will help you unwind before you sleep, maybe a glass of milk, deep relaxation methods like deep diaphragm breathing, and one of those natural sound machines from Brookstone (sounds of ocean, thunderstorm, etc.). Hope it works for you.

You can never sleep without dreaming, it is just how we are made. You are probably waking up during a dream state, which is what makes you remember dreams. Do you snore? Have restless leg syndrome? Sleep Apnea? What I'm getting at is you may have an underlying medical condition could be waking you up at night.
You really need to at least get a check up by your doc?

Sleep and dreaming go together. Dreaming is a part of healthy sleep. Dreams happen during REM (Rapid Eye Movement) phase of sleep. There are four stages of sleep, and dreaming is part of them.
In some cases night terrors happen during deeper levels of sleep. This is very rare and often happens to children.
But if you sleep with out dreaming you will have SEVERE psychological consequences.
Someone else in here will have the details and references.
BUT DO NOT LET ANYONE TELL YOU WAYS TO AVOID DREAMING. That is only bad news and bad advice.
If you are severely affected by this issue, check in with your family doctor who, after some tests and screening questions, may send you to a sleep specialist.

Dreaming goes with sleep and there is really nothing you can do about that. The horrible dreams, however, you CAN stop. If you watch scary shows, read scary books, etc, then STOP. If not, try thinking of peaceful scenes as you fall asleep at night and focus on what you would LIKE to dream about, this usually works to eliminate most of the bad dreams. Good luck!
