Going in relation to my earlier question (coz can't amend original question!) - if i'm wearing a dark coloured skirt suit with a lighter blouse, what colour should my shoes and hose be? And why does everyone seem to be plumping for stayups as opposed to suspenders/garters? Do stayups actually work for all day? I don't want them rolling down mid-interview!!

i'll definately be wearing a skirt as i don't do trouser suits. Its very difficult to know what to do but i have to create the right impression coz first impressions count!

Shoes and/or hose should always match your skirt or be in the same shade (dark skirt=dark shoes and hose). I find that garters have a tendency to cause runs in hose. The key to stayups actually staying up is buying a size bigger than you actually are. No roll downs!!

Match your shoes to your skirt and go for nude hose in a really thin denier. Wolford are the best, wash them first & they won't run. I think stay ups & suspenders are way overrated for the everyday! And whole leg provides a little warmth in the winter.
To be on the safe side, get a skirt that just skims the knee, or even a slightly flared one since you're wearing heels.

I missed your first question, I'll look for it. If your wearing a dark suit 2piece skirt/jacket, light blouse, light hose (suntan) shoes to match suit. If skirt is tight fitting and mid calf, darker hose would look killer. And ankle strap shoes look great with a mid calf skirt, pumps with knee length.
Remember you only get 1 chance to make a first impression. Easy on the make-up as job interviews will be held in fluorescent lighting, this will make daytime make-up look heavy.

Usually I wear nude/skin coloured, or sheer black with a skirt. I'd go for dark shoes regardless of hose colour. Stay-ups are really awesome! As long as you get a pair that fit, they should stay up. Plus I find them more comfortable than pantyhose that go all the way up to my belly-button ... and they don't twist ... AND you don't have to worry about them when using the bathroom ... lol. Many perks.

Nude hosiery, shoes to match your skirt. Sheer tights if you are afraid of stay-ups.
An inch above the knee is not too conservative! Good grief girl. You want to look like somebody that gets things done, not like somebody who uses her sex appeal to get what she wants. It's an interview, not a date. You might have the greatest legs in the country, but keep them for your boyfriend. It's your resume and your competent personality that the interviewer wants to see.

I always try to match my hose with the darkest color in my shirt or dress...I find it more slimming. But, if I am going with a lighter, neutral-colored skirt like khaki, I prefer nude hose.
I prefer whole pantyhose rather than any kind of stockings. I like the feeling of support in full hose...with anything else I feel like I am "falling out" or something. Gotta keep the lumps and bumps at bay! I am not grossly overweight but I like everything sucked in!
I tried the lace-top thigh-high stockings that stay up once but I didn't like them at all, they seemed to leave little bulges on your thigh and I was afraid they would roll down....and I doubt I'd wear a garter.
Good luck on your interview!

one inch above the knee is not too conservative for a job interview, remember it will ride 3 inches or so when you sit down and you dont want to be showing the interview panel what colour knickers you are wearing.
barely black sheer tights will probably work best, they will make your legs look slender (without giving an evening appearance) and wear smart closed toe shoes (preferably with a small heel) for optimum smart/chic/hardworking impression.

Light coloured shoes with light coloured hosiery will make your legs look longer, with a skirt.
If wearing trousers wear the same coloured shoes and hosiery as trousers.

personally i think light coloured shoes with a dark skirt looks a little odd but if its co-ordinated it can be OK.
nude or black hosiery cause coloured hosiery is for kids and whores

If the skirt is dark, charcoal or black then the appropriate colour for legwear is either barely black or black, coupled with black shoes.
My wife wears stay ups and has no problems with them. Just make sure you get the right size.
