The Earth Children series by Jean Auel is really good. I just recently got into it and I'm having a hard time putting the books down. The basic plot is about a clan of neanderthals who adopt a more modern human child. The books (there are 5) follow the girl as she leaves the clan to find her own people. Really interesting reads! And, of course, there is some romance thrown into the mix. ;)

I would recommend the Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon or any of the books by Julie Garwood. They are both really good authors and I couldn't put down the books. They are both historical romance authors and the facts are pretty accurate.
I would also reccomend the Eragon books. there is three but the third hasn't came out yet. the name of the second book is Eldest.
If you don't mind a lot of reading then I would recommend Gone With The Wind and its sequel Scarlett they are really good and take place before, during, and after the civil war.
I would also recommend the book Dragonspell. I believe that it is a series but I'm not very sure.
John Grisham and Tom Clancy are both really good authors who have alot of books out but I'm not sure if they have a series of books.
The Chronicals of Narnia books are very good and of course A Series of Unfortunant Events.
You may also try the Left Behind Series. They are a christian series that have movies based on the books.
The Noble House is not a series but it is a really long book, it starts out confusing, that had an eight hour tv show based on it. The story takes place over in Hong Kong and the surrounding areas. I believe that it is longer that Gone With The Wind but I'm not sure because I'm still reading it.

If you like romance, action, humor and a good story well written try Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum mystery series... Stephanie sells bra's and panties in a department store when she's fired and has to find another job. So she goes to work for her cousin, Vinnie as a fugitive recovery agent. There are (at present) 13 novels in the series, with two special seasonal books. Each of the series books has a number in the title that tells its position in the sequence. You'll love Grandma (loves to go to viewings, opens closed caskets, and carries a big gun.)

If you prefer straight romance, she write that too.

Apart from the Lord of the RIngs trilogy which is chewed anough in recent years the TOP FANTASY SERIES is of course Terry Prachett's Discworld series. Breathtakingly hilarious! Read one and on. I recommend buying 3 or four since you won't wan to stop after the first! It is about 25+ titles out now.
Another one I am not sure of because I started the first book yesterday and am liking it so far is Jasper Fforde (the guy is written with a double FF) Thusday Next series (This is the name of a female detective, Next being the surname). It is also realy fun to read.

Well there is a series of books that could fall into both of those catagories by Diana Gabladon. The first book is called Outlander and it is a very good book. My husband even read it and he hates most romance and he couldn't put it down. It is about time travel and true love and best of all it takes place in Scotland!

i think the best new book series out today is the Harry Potter collection. I have no children but i picked up the first book at a swap shop and have been hooked ever since. It is the best fantasy series since the Hobbit collection by JRR Tolkien.i can't wait for the next installment to be out .It is a fast moving series with alot of action and adventure. The books put the movies to shame.

The late Marion Zimmer Bradley wrote in her Darvover universe.
This series was set on the distant planet Darkover where the population was gifted with various telepathic powers. The novels are a craftly blend of science fiction and fantasy.
Also, check out the classics by Katherine Kurtz(Camber of Culdi) and Piers Anthony (Xanth)

The Mark of the Lion Trilogy by Francine Rivers are up there as some of my alltime favorite books, and I have read a LOT of books. The Trilogy includes: Echo in the Darkness, As Sure as the Dawn, & A Voice in the Wind. It is an amazing love story set back during Roman Times. I loved everything about them and I am 100% positive that you will love them too.
