Cytotec is very dangerous and can cause your uterus to rupture. The manufacturer has said publicly that it is NOT recommended for inducing abortion.

They soften the cervix and begin contractions, you should not take these pills if you are not in a hospital or safe environment as there are many warnings against using cytotec because of the complications. You are basically inducing labour, this pill is used in second trimester abortions along with a D & E. There have been reports of uterine rupture and death associated with using misoprostol to induce labour. All cervical ripening and induction agents can cause uterine hyper stimulation, which can negatively affect the blood supply to the fetus and increases the risk of complications such as uterine rupture Protocols for inducing labor with misoprostol typically call for 25 μg to be administered vaginally. In countries where the only approved use of misoprostol is ulcer prevention, misoprostol is not sold in tablets smaller than 100 μg. When used for induction, the 100 μg tablet is commonly split into two or four pieces. When they are used for cervix ripening in a late term abortion they are done so in conjunction with a D & E or oxytocin. Do not do this at home or using cytotec, if you must not have this child go to planned parenthood or a hospital, If you are past the legal date for an abortion consider adoption. You will most likely end up in hospital after you do this and because it doesn't work properly and who knows what may happen when they look at the fetus that was expelled and look into what caused it, you may end up being charged with a crime.

There is a difference between abortion medication and morning after pills...morning after pills stop you from getting pregnant but thy won't cause an abortion!

For 0-72 hours after sex you can use Plan B (Levonorgestrel) or Yuzpe regimen (progesterone and estrogen). Some studies suggest it is effective up to 120 hours. (75-89% effective)

For 0 - 5 days after unprotected sex you can have an IUD inserted and this will prevent pregnancy with a 99% effectiveness rate. And IUD will also protect you in the future.

Cytotec/RU486 (mifepristone) can be used as emergency contraception AND induce abortions depending on dosage. However using mifepristone as emergency contraception is not approved in most places. It can be used to terminate a pregnancy up to 49 days since your last period.

It sounds like if you can get to a doctor IMMEDIATELY an IUD is probably your best bet. It is the most effective at preventing pregnancy. It also will protect you from future pregnancies. It is relatively low risk. Otherwise you are probably going to have to wait to see if you are pregnant and figure it from there.

cytotec or misoprostol is not the appropriate drug as morning after contraceptive. moreover it should not be over the counter drug at all. levonorgestrel 75 mg should be taken within 72 hours of sex, and the tablet repeated 12 hours after 1st tablet. what you can now do is get an copper IUCD inserted as it can be inserted within 5 days of sex to avoid pregnancy. alternatively you can wait for the menses and if you miss them you can ask for a prescription of misoprostol and mifepristone for abortion within 49 days of last menstrual period. good luck.
