Not a band, but an Australian singer/songwriter (Doug Ashdown).

Ashdown is the manufacturer of musical equipment, from instruments to amplifiers. Perhaps that's where you've heard the name.

There's the Ashdown Junior High School band, although I doubt that's what you mean. :D

There is a musician Doug Ashdown, who seems to have reached his heyday in the 1970s. You can read about him at his website.

Frankly, it's unlikely that a band would choose "Ashdown" as its name, given the association the word has with the equipment manufacturer. :) Best of luck to you looking, though!
