Once they get rid of Ainge and Rivers. From a roster standpoint, they are in a good position. They have lots of young talent (Rondo, Telfair, Green, West, Gomes, Allen, Jefferson, Perkins) and a legit star (Pierce). Plus, they should have some cap flexibility in the future (in two years, they will be $20mil under the cap). Jefferson, Green, Allen, West and Gomes have been coming along nicely. If they can keep this group together for the next four years or so, they might find themselves with a contending team. But, even that hinges on Ainge being canned, so he doesn't do anything stupid to the roster.

When they get a head coach and a GM that can draw in great players, or players that can get it done. Just like the late Red Auerbach and the legendary Bill Russell did. They ALWAYS knew who to add to their dynasty. Doc Rivers has got to go. He is not getting it done. And he never will. At least not with the Celtics. I don't know much about the Celtics GM, but apparently he isn't bringing in the right people. Maybe whoever owns the Celtics might want to consider rebuilding the WHOLE team. Meaning, new GM, new coaches, new players. Keep Paul Pierce, but start bringing in other players. Then they will be great.

When Danny Ainge is thrown in the Charles River.....

I like Doc Rivers and think he's a good coach, I like Paul Pierce and think he can be one of the leagues best players when he wants to be and surrounded by a good team.

But they have to get rid of Sebastian Telfair and these other guys without college experience and get some real players.

The Eastern Conference is really bad, a .500 team can make the playoff as a 5 seed, a team doesn't need great size, just a good defense (not great), and some consistent offense and you can make the second round of the playoffs.

But this team has to do two things, let go of the past curses and be willing to completly start all over and then within a few years (look at the Chicago Bulls), you can go from the bottom to respectable fairly quickly.

Man the Celtics haven't had a good team since Bird and they record in the last 10 years prove it. They need some good draft picks so they can pick up some PLAYERS that will help their team out. They need a whole new staff like a head coach, assistant coach, and a gm etc. I mean i like the celtics but their team isn't very strong and they need some new players through a draft or a trade or something to boost their team to do something again like in the old days.

Not until they get a REAL center and a coach and GM who have a clue. They're pathetic and it's so sad. Under Bird, DJ, MCHale, Ainge and Parish inthe 80's they used to be the kings. Now they're just a bunch of mediocre street thugs that are grossely overpaid.
