ok i have all respect as it is right now for the way that womens hockey is played right now, but we really should be allowed to play like the guys. us women are not usually allowed to get as into the game as th guys do because we are not allowed to check. Girls don't play hockey just for the fun of it. We play for the thrill, and when we paly we know what risks are invovled with the sport. If we didnt then why would we be playing. I think that if our rules were the same as the guys yeah our games would be more intense like the guys. Im a hockey player and i wuld love to be able to check people into the boards because when i know that i have no boundaries i get more into my game and then i am more intense. But it may not be as respected because i have recently seen taht not a lot of guys are found of seeing girls checked into the boards, but we might jusrt be able to get some for fans for womens hockey, then maybe there could be a WNHL. Now that would be awesome

I think women's hockey *is* fairly respected, considering the odds against it.

We have most of the same rules the men do, with the exception of checking. What rules are different? There are some minor equipment differences (women still wear a cage, including pro and Olympic, but that could change), and the rules around checking, but I can't think of any other differences.

Women don't play as physical a game. We play a faster, more technical game, and I hear from a lot of guys who know hockey that it's just as interesting - if not more so - to watch from that standpoint.

I think if you played women's hockey you might not have asked this question this way. I'd like you to come down and spend 60 minutes on the ice with me and tell me women's hockey is a joke when we're done.

I think you'd change your tune.

No, having women's hockey be contact would not make it as popular. Because mostly men are sports fans, men's sports will always be more popular than women's.

However, I like the finesse involved in women's hockey and lacrosse- it actually requires much more skill.

No and im not trying to be a dick or say anything against females in any way but the hits wouldnt be as hard and the fighting wouldnt be the same see female hockey is more based on skill and speed as it should be....I saw the U.S. girls play the Canadan Girls and it was one of the best games ive seen in my life and ive been playing and watching hockey from the time i was 5 years old

the problem isn't with the rules. the womens leagues are in general less popular because the men are more athletic and this often times creates a more exciting game to watch. It doesn't mean the game is any better but it is usually faster paced and easier to watch for the average fan.

Honestly. No. Hell no!

If the rules were the same, the women that played in this imaginary league would look like men. Not everything has to be or should equal in today's society.

If you want to draw interest in women's hockey, go for the hot chicks in bikinis. I'd watch then. Otherwise, no one cares, not even in Canada.

If they played to the same standard as the men and were able to compete with them then yes I'm sure it would.

ok i'm not a woman but a irl who plays hockey...girls/womans hockey is more physical than people think.....but we love to check...it's fun and it gives a more exciting physical tone to the game....even though wwe can't do it in games we practice physicality all the time....also girls/woman have the sense to protect their faces so we wear full face masks...were tougher than you think...we won't be hurt...that's just what people assume....i'm going for woman in the nhl...or i hope to be the first.....

I don't have any desire to see toothless women beating the hell out of each other. For that, I'd rather see the guys play.

no - it wouldn't be as popular. hockey is such a unique sport & women can't compete the same way as the men do.
